About Camellia

Camellia is a common flower in northern Fujian province (Minbei) during winter. Its white petals and yellow stamens add a beautiful splash of color to the deep green of the mountains.

Camellia flowers contain rich active compounds that offer antioxidant properties and boost immunity. These compounds are similar to those in tea leaves. However, the growth processes of the flowers and buds cause differences in their concentrations.

Why Choose Black Tea To Scent

Black tea is a broad category, with various types exhibiting distinct aromas and originating from different regions. Overall, black tea offers a sweet, refreshing taste that is relatively mild and less likely to irritate the stomach. Ultimately, we have chosen Zhengshan Xiaozhong (types of black tea), which grows in the Tongmu High Mountains, for the scenting process. Each year, we select different varieties of tea plants to produce Zhengshan Xiaozhong, showcasing unique flavors that enrich the diversity of our black tea offerings.

About Chinese Black Tea

The harvest of Zhengshan Xiaozhong black tea is categorized into: early spring, late spring, second spring, and autumn, with the early spring harvest being the finest. The production methods for Zhengshan Xiaozhong divide into traditional smoky processing and new processing techniques.

Since smoky processing is not suitable for scenting, we exclusively use the new processing technique for our black tea base, which is then blended with fresh flowers. The Zhengshan Xiaozhong produced via the new method offers a delicate floral aroma and a full bodied, embodying a unique high mountain essence.

Lumostea’s Choice

We actively collaborate with tea artisans from around the world, and this particular tea is sourced from a tea producer in Nanping, Fujian. We select 100% natural fresh flowers and high-quality tea leaves for the scenting process, with no artificial fragrances added. We are delighted to share the production process of this tea with you, and we hope you enjoy its distinctive charm.

The journey of our tea begins in the misty mountains of Fujian, where the tea leaves are handpicked at the peak of their freshness. Each leaf is carefully selected to ensure that only the finest quality makes it into our blends. Once harvested, the leaves undergo a meticulous fermentation process, allowing them to retain their natural flavors and aromas.

After fermentation, the leaves are gently rolled and oxidized, a crucial step that enhances their rich character. It is during this stage that we introduce our fresh flowers, which are sourced from local growers who share our commitment to quality and sustainability. The flowers are added in small batches, allowing the tea to absorb their delicate fragrances without overpowering the natural essence of the leaves.

Once the scenting process is complete, the tea is carefully dried to lock in its unique flavor profile. This results in a harmonious blend that captures the essence of both the tea and the flowers, creating a delightful experience for the senses.

At Lumostea, we believe that every cup of tea tells a story. With each sip of our Zhengshan Xiaozhong, you are not just enjoying a beverage; you are partaking in a tradition that spans generations. We invite you to savor the intricate layers of flavor and aroma and to appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into every batch.

Whether enjoyed alone or shared with friends, our tea is a celebration of nature’s bounty and the artistry of tea-making. We hope that as you explore our offerings, you find joy in the simple pleasure of a well-crafted cup of tea.
